His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the Emir of Kuwait and Shaikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jabber Al Sabah the Crown Prince and Shaikh Jabber Al Mubarak Al Sabah, the Prime Minister, received a high level delegation from Huawei Communication Company on October 18, 2015 at Bayan Palace. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Yousef Al Ali, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Chairman of Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Director General of KDIPA, and Sheikh Abdullah Sabah Al Sabah, Head of Licensing & Investment Registry Section at KDIPA. This visit came on the occasion of issuing the investment license to Huawei Communication Company to establish a 100% foreign owned “Huawei Technologies – Kuwait”, benefiting from the incentives and exemptions granted by Law No. 116 of 2013, regarding the Promotion of Direct Investment in the State of Kuwait. The Huawei delegation was headed by Rotating CEO Mr. Guo Ping, the Middle East Director Mr. Charles Yang, and “Huawei Technologies – Kuwait” CEO Mr. Trevor Liu. “Huawei Technologies – Kuwait” will, through this direct investment, support the ICT sector in Kuwait, enhance its presence in the Kuwaiti Market, and will better serve its clients in both public and private sectors in providing innovative solutions and professional services. The expected added value of this investment in the national economy will be multifaceted covering transfer of technology and expertise in R&D, as well as job creation and skills training for Kuwaiti youth.
