KDIPA participates in the launching ceremony of “Huawei Technologies – Kuwait”

18 October 2015: Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), participated in the launching ceremony organized by Huawei Commutations for their “Huawei Technologies – Kuwait”subsidiary, licensed by KDIPA to be established as a 100% foreign owned Kuwaiti company benefiting from the incentives and exemptions stipulated by Law No. 116 of 2013 regarding the Promotion of Direct Investment in the State of Kuwait. The ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Commerce & Industry, Chairman of the Board of KDIPA, on October 18, 2015, at Al Jumeirah Messilah Hotel. It was attended by their Excellency ambassadors of both countries, KDIPA’s members of the Board of Directors, KDIPA Director General, Assistant Director Generals, consultants, and staff, along with a notable attendance by representatives of the private sector especially from the communications and ISP companies.    Dr. Yousef Al-Ali, in his opening speech, welcomed Huawei’s decision to invest in Kuwait, noting the special nature of such investment, and recognizing KDIPA’s efforts in attracting efficiency seeking FDI to position Kuwait as a leading Hub for ICT companies. Mr. Guo Ping, Huawei Rotating CEO reaffirmed that the subsidiary company launched is committed to provide the highest level of products and services to meet Kuwait’s ICT present and future needs, and to foster a more open and better connected Kuwait in view of the fast pace of ICT  advances, which is connecting more companies and communities worldwide.  Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, KDIPA’s Director General, commended this investment which is expected to support Kuwait thriving ICT sector, and yield a high impact added value to the Kuwaiti economy in terms of quality job creation for Kuwaiti youth, as well as providing sophisticated training opportunities and transfer of expertise, in light of Kuwait’s national plan vision and development priorities. He concluded by thanking all the parties that contributed to facilitate the procedures needed to issue this license.  There were other speeches in the ceremony by Huawei officials, presentation of a video highlighting Huawei milestones projects in Kuwait, honoring KDIPA for its support, and introducing the successful experience of a group of Kuwaiti engineering students who concluded “Seeds for the Future” program in China, as part of Huawei CSR initiatives to cultivate local talents.
