KDIPA accompanies H.H. the Amir on official visit to China

Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) accompanied His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the People’s Republic of China for an official state visit on July 7 – 10, 2018 in which His Highness the Amir meet with the Chinese President Xi Jinping.

His Highness the Amir was also the guest of honor at the 8th session of the ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF) in which he delivered a speech with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, in the presence of Arab foreign ministers. The forum mainly discussed ways of further promoting and developing Arab-Sino cooperative relations in various fields, mainly the economic domain.

The Kuwaiti delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H.E. Anas Al-Saleh, Minister of Finance H.E. Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Economic Affairs H.E. Hind Al-Sabeeh, Minister of Commerce and Industry H.E Khaled Al-Roudan and Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water H.E Bakheet Al-Rashidi along with several other senior governmental officials.

KDIPA was represented by its Director General, H.E. Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, who was part of the selected delegation for this mission and took part in the signing of the memorandum of understanding in the field of promoting direct investment between Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) and the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) of the People’s Republic of China.

This trip strengthened the bilateral relations between the countries, addressed issues of common interest and enhanced mutual cooperation in various fields especially in economy and investment. The two countries signed seven agreements and Memorandum of Understandings in a number of different fields of cooperation. The agreements include: security issues and boost defensive industry cooperation, general cooperation between the two countries in the development aspect, e-commerce, a Memorandum of Understanding with Huawei on the implementation of smart cities for the Silk and Boubyan Projects, a cooperation between Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and the China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation.
