KDIPA receives a Portuguese delegation

8 December 2015: Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) received a Portuguese delegation headed by H.E. Jaime Leitão, Portuguese Ambassador in Abu Dhabi, UAE, accompanied by Mr. Miguel Frasquilho, Chairman & CEO of AICEP Portugal Global, Portugal’s trade and investment agency mandated to both to attract FDI into Portugal and facilitate the internationalization of Portuguese companies, and other AICEP representatives.  Mr. Mohamed Yousef Yaqoub, Assistant Director General for Business Development, welcomed the delegation, and explained the latest developments KDIPA witnessed to better attract and service investors. A detailed presentation given by Sheikh Abdullah Al Sabah, Head of Licensing & Investment Registry. He displayed the unique attributes of Kuwait as an investment location, highlighted the favorable features of the new law No. 116, and explained the investment procedures, and the aftercare services provided by KDIPA. Both parties discussed various collaboration opportunities, especially considering the suggestion to organize an outreach program in both Kuwait and Portugal to further promote bilateral investments, and the potential exchange of existent investors’ databases. A related point to consider is that Kuwait and Portugal signed a bilateral investment agreement that entered into force back in May 28, 2011.
